We'll do originals and play out. And it'll be great. I promise.

If you want to get somewhere in music this may be the ticket. Be local to NYC or Tri State area and can get to Midtown West rehearsal spaces. The musical genre starting point is similar to good classic rock (for one instance, out of many) but goes further than that.

If you are not very familiar with that idiom and genre think twice before answering this ad, because won't be doing dance pop, r n b, hip hop or current 'rock' that, to my ears, sounds like boring run of the mill adult contemporary music from the eighties and nineties. I don't know how the latter musical phenomena happened--but it appears that today's teens and Gen Z go straight into middle aged melancholia without the uproar of acting like half crazed, delusional morons to get there lol. I realize they like slow, sad and boring music and ballads that are stuffed full of hackneyed musical cliches but we won't be going down that road. I'm not looking to engage the crowd that is staring into their phones crying because someone got their pronouns wrong. I want the ones who will take the traditional route of acting like half crazed, delusional morons and working stuff out.

Please have previous band experience--at least a year of consistent rehearsals and gigs. Be willing to focus on vocals only because playing 'some guitar' or anything else isn't a big helping hand when the playing is at beginner or intermediate level.

Not looking for musical theater style singing, lots of unnecessary, excessive vibrato. It's not 1938 anymore. Be up to date with an eye focused more on the future than the past and the baseline idiomatic phrasings that define past eras.

Send a demo; if there's something good happening and the right vibe is present we'll have something to talk about. If not, then good luck.

Be on key, no struggling, straining, no missed notes, please have clean and well defined ascending and descending intervals and have good ears for crafting a mood for a song.

This band startup is not going to be indie/alternative/sloppy/wanker level. Be up to the tasks and motivated to get something really good launched.
