Since inception in 1987, when brothers Jeff and Joe Kirby first launched Scepter® in Wichita, Kansas, (before relocating to the DFW area), the band has remained strong through ups and downs of both personal and band life and continues to drive home their original hard rock music to this very day with the most recent audio and video for “Joyland” (available on YouTube, iTunes, Amazon, CDbaby, Spotify and others). The song reflects the 3-piece band’s roots as a tribute to an abandoned theme park from their home town where they spent summer days and nights hanging out with their friends. In 1999 Scepter® relocated to Dallas, Texas, after performing alongside great Wichita local musicians such as Paul Bland and Michael Pannell for many years. Scepter® solicited Chris “Mank” Menard on drums and the threesome performed for 12 years until he relocated to CA. During the time with Mank, the band also worked with Brandon Downum on drums to release their album “Seven By Three, a primary Christ themed album and toured venues and radio for a while before returning to the Dallas market again with Mank back on drums prior to him moving to CA. In July of 2016, the band auditioned many local Dallas area drummers and brought on Damon “Nomad” Blythe to take over where other drummers had left off. Fate might have it that after bringing Damon into Scepter®, the Kirby brothers surprisingly learned that Damon was also originally from Wichita, Kansas area, making Scepter® once again 100% Kansas born and bred. This is something that hadn’t been the case since 1999. Throughout the bands history, Scepter® has released several independent albums including Depletion of Time (1990), Three (1992), Humerus (1994), Eat to the Feet (1998), Scepterated at Birth (2001), It’s The Getting Up That Gets Ya (2002), Seven By Three (2007), Point of Impact (2008), Now and Again (2016) and the latest streaming audio/videos for It’s All Good (2015), Cheap (2016) and the most recent with Damon, Joyland (2017). Check out Scepter® performing a mix of their hard classic guitar driven rock/punk influenced originals and a dose of classic hard rock remakes spanning over 30 years at a club or venue near you. We think you’ll like the SSS- Scepter® Secret Sauce.
